Alpha Wireless wCAN a hit at WISPAPALOOZA

Alpha Wireless’ wCAN (WISP-Concealed Antenna Node) has proven to be a crowd-stopper at WISPAPALOOZA ’19, stealing the limelight at the company’s stand over the three-day event.

The flagship product was designed specifically for the Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) market, providing an all-in-one, plug‘n’play solution that brings the antenna, shroud, radio and power into a single discreet casing, and did not fail to disappoint at the Las Vegas show.

Alpha Wireless Director of Sales US WISP markets Cameron Kilton said the wCAN grabbed a great deal of attention, attracting many return visitors to the booth.

“For wireless providers looking to maximise coverage but also preserve the surrounding landscape, this really is an ideal solution, so it’s not that surprising that it was a popular product at WISPAPALOOZA,” Kilton said.

“As we know, no two sites are the same, and this product is customisable with PTMP and PTP backhaul radios, wideband 2300-2700Mhz Pseudo Omni and dual back to back 90-degree 4×4 MIMO 5Ghz sectors with adjustable +/- 30 degree azimuth adjustments per sector. That’s a lot to love about this product.

“The Small Cell Omni AW3672 and Panel AW3697 also generated positive feedback, which was great to see and will be very helpful for WISP operators as they deploy their sites.”

Kilton, a former WISP operator and long-time customer advocate in the WISP community, participated in several sessions during the show, including on LTE Fundamentals, LTE RF Concepts, The Future of Fixed Wireless and CBRS.

“This year’s show was excellent, the best I’ve been to-date. With more than 2000 individuals and 160 exhibitors attending, it was a great opportunity to network with this community and hear more about the new challenges they are facing and their requirements,” he said.

“For Alpha Wireless, our aim is to lead the charge with innovation and provide the best RF solution to the market; the best way to do that is to keep listening hard to what our customers want.”

The FCC’s approval last month of SAS administrators to launch the initial commercial deployment of the 3.5 GHz, CBRS band, was among the hot topics discussed at the event.

Head of Sales Mike Gulledge said the move was good news for Alpha Wireless.

“We can help the WISP operators as they evolve to deploy their CBRS spectrum because we have the broadest portfolio of products in the CBRS area/3.5 GHz -capable antenna solutions, and the breadth of experience to go with that,” Gulledge said.

“Cameron is the industry expert, and they will go to him for advice and information – especially for RF situations. I really believe this market will build out the CBRS spectrum over the next several years, Alpha Wireless wants to help these operators. We are totally committed to helping this market.”

Another good news story out of the event came from a charity auction with proceeds going towards Ali Ungor, who has been fighting cancer for six years. “Alpha Wireless was proud to be part of supporting Ali and her family by contributing a bundle of four AW3023 65 degree 4×4 CBRS sector antennas, which sold for $1406,” Kilton said.

Next stop, WISPAMERICA 2020, which will be held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, Dallas, Texas, March 16 – 19, 2020. It plans to be a jam-packed show with 50+ interactive sessions and 90+ exhibitors to offer a one-stop-shop and must-attend event for the WISP market.
