Alpha Wireless lends support to help fight cancer

Alpha Wireless is proud to have been involved in a charity auction at WISPAPALOOZA that raised nearly $20,000 USD for a family that has been fighting cancer for six years.

Alpha Wireless was among a number of businesses that provided products for the auction at the event of the year in Las Vegas last month, contributing a bundle of AW3023 panel antennas.

This antenna is our most popular 4×4 MIMO antenna for fixed wireless 3.5GHz spectrum so was particularly applicable to the operators in the US following the recent launch of the 3.5GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS).

The Federal Communications Commission and the CBRS Alliance have been working to make the 3.5GHz band a viable path to enhance wireless network performance in the US, so the AW3023 antenna was a popular bidding prospect at the auction.

Valued at $2000 USD, the Alpha Wireless bundle eventually sold for $1406 USD, contributing well to the overall total of $US19,600 raised for Ali Ugnor and her family.

Ali, a mother of two, has faced repeat battles with cervical cancer over the last six years and the family has been left struggling physically, emotionally and financially.

After being first diagnosed, Ali fought the cancer head on and beat it, but follow-up tests later showed that it had returned. The family went through the same roller coaster four times, and Ali is now facing cancer for a fifth time.

She has exhausted traditional treatments and been told the cancer is terminal, but Ali is now looking to clinical trials to help her continue to fight. However, with Ali unable to work, her husband needing to be home more, and the family’s medical insurance set to start over, their financial problems are only set to worsen.

“To have such an immense physical and emotional struggle compounded by a hefty financial burden is devastating. Since she was first diagnosed, Ali has constantly shown an irrefutable fighting spirit, and Alpha Wireless was pleased to contribute support to help her and her family continue to fight,” Alpha Wireless Cameron Kilton, Director of Sales US WISP Markets.
