What you need to know about the Alpha Wireless wCAN

Oct 14, 2019 | News

Wireless infrastructure concealment is at the forefront of concern for the WISP community and is an issue that is only set to grow in the coming years as demand for coverage increases. Mobile operators are struggling with zoning requirements and face an uphill battle because of the negative perception of antennas, so creating solutions that minimise the impact on their surroundings should be a leading consideration in development. The Alpha Wireless wCAN (WISP-Concealed Antenna Node) small cell solution was specifically designed to tackle these issues – providing a solution to improve coverage and provide high capacity while retaining a visually ambient environment. We are excited on the opening day of WISPAPALOOZA 2019 having just released the wCAN. Here are five things you need to know about the product:
  • All-in-one, plug’n’play solution
The wCAN integrates the radios, backhaul options, GPS, cables, and any required power protection and distribution into a single enclosure. The circumference of the enclosure is the actual antenna!
  • Multi-spectrum
The wCAN supports mmWave for both PTP and PTMP applications. Available in 4×4 pseudo wideband omni 2300-3800Mhz for 4G/5G applications.
  • Discreet
The wCAN is compact at just 39.2 in x 17.4 in making it a visually appealing, low impact solution.
  • Cuts planning approval time
Because the wCAN is so unobtrusive, it is easily approved by the most unyielding municipal zoning and permitting authorities. The list of municipalities across the world that have already approved the CAN in their communities is growing by the day.
  • Faster deployment
The wCAN’s innovative design allows it to be assembled in a controlled environment away from the site, which can save more than 50 per cent on cost and cut deployment times by more than 70 per cent compared with traditional deployment approaches.
