New AW4032 Small Cell Antenna Enables Versatile New Site Options with Sleek, Easy-to-Deploy, 2-Part Modular Design
Alpha Wireless, a global leader in antennas and streetworks solutions, today introduced the AW4032 multiband antenna, a new addition to the company’s Small Cell Fusion Platform. With a simple, 2-part design that is quickly mounted mid-pole on existing streetworks infrastructure, the AW4032 antenna enables aesthetically pleasing, 5G small cell deployments without sacrificing performance.
As mobile network operators (MNOs) and neutral hosts densify their networks, they are increasingly challenged to secure new site locations. The AW4032 Fusion platform makes efficient use of limited real estate, encompassing two modular antenna sections that fit together around existing lamp posts, streetlights or other street-level pole infrastructure. This unique design eliminates the need for sidearm mounts, creating a sleek, concealed antenna solution that improves performance and aesthetics while reducing the structural load.
The AW4032 antenna platform supports multiple radios across dual frequency bands for 5G mid-band coverage. This 16-port, multiband, omnidirectional antenna provides 360° of horizontal coverage in the 1695–2690 MHz and 3300–4200 MHz bands, with 4×4 MIMO for maximum throughput. With a wide elevation beamwidth and high gain, the AW4032 antenna platform offers strong signal-to-noise ratio throughout the entire small cell.
Together with Ontix, Virgin Media O2 has recently partnered with Alpha Wireless to deploy their Small Cell Fusion antennas as part of the UK’s first 5G standalone small cells in central Birmingham, boosting mobile connectivity for customers in some of the city’s busiest areas. The antennas have been discreetly deployed on existing street furniture to bring connectivity to where it’s needed the most.
